Transportation stocks are signaling something huge here..

Like most bull markets, there are always a million different bad omens out there that you need to be aware of.

Two weeks ago it was that everyone was selling their semiconductor stocks for Chinese stocks, two months ago it was that the Japanese Yen carry trade was going to cause a global unwind, etc.

But like most bull markets, a majority of what you read (and worry) about seem to not matter at all.

However, every once in a while, there is something worth paying attention to.

And if you were alive over 100 years ago when Mr. Charles Dow was creating his Dow Jones Industrial and Transportation averages; you would have been watching the DJIA and DJTA like a hawk.

While the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA broke out into all-time highs in 2023 and has continued to run all year into new highs, the Dow Jones Transportation Average DJTA has not yet completed its multi-year consolidation base.

Mr. Dow would have told you that this market was not trading efficiently and to exercise caution when opening new positions.

But all of that changed on Friday:

The US Transportation ETF IYT finally broke out after 3+ years of sideways consolidation and into new highs, signaling the beginning of the next leg higher in many important areas of the stock market.

And we think it’s just a matter of time before DJTA officially follows.

Just look at United Airlines UAL which is up nearly 14% today and trading at its highest price since 2020:

Generally speaking, this is not the time to be bearish over the long term.

The walls of worry will continue to be climbed by those of whom want to be bearish.

But for the rest of us who prefer to make money, bull markets are for the bulls.

And transportation stocks are signaling a very important bullish signal right now.
