Stocks Down, Gold Up: What’s Next?

Last year, almost nobody wanted Gold.

Stocks were surging, NVDA and the Mag-7 were unstoppable, and Gold breaking into all-time highs was mocked or ignored.

The thinking was simple but wrong: “Stocks and Gold can’t both go up at once.”

Fast-forward to today—stocks are now weakening, uncertainty is growing, and suddenly everyone’s asking the same question:

“Should I be buying Gold now?”

Here’s the truth:

We’ve been long Gold (GLD) since last March, clearly following three simple rules:

• Trend: Price was above an upwards-sloping 200-day moving average.

• Relative Strength: It was outperforming stocks and the broader market.

• Momentum: Clearly bullish, consistent, and strong.

This disciplined approach helped us catch a move that most investors and traders completely missed. Now Gold continues higher, even as stocks struggle.

And what about Gold Miners?

Back in January—two months before the entire Gold Mining group (GDX) broke out—we took early positions in two specific names: AEM and KGC.

• AEM just hit new all-time highs.

• KGC is at 14-year highs.

Getting into these trades early put us directly ahead of the big institutional money now rushing into Gold Miners.

Gold just hit our latest price target at $300 on GLD. We’ve begun taking profits. Why? Because managing risk and locking in gains when things look best almost always outperforms reacting once prices reverse—especially when trading options.
